Molly Sterling

Molly Sterling

Molly Sterling music takes on a dark and deep direction, where you will find soloistic guitar riffs, melodic cello lines, powerful rhythms all grounded in deep, dark and emotional lyrics, and an artist that possesses a sonorous vocal influenced by and reminiscent of the likes of Lana Del Ray and London Grammar’s Hannah Reid. Take your expectations and leave them at the door - you've heard no one like Molly Sterling before. Prepare yourself for the hairs on the back of your neck to stand up and to lose yourself in Molly's musical mind.

During 2016 Molly began to focus on writing new material that involved crafting a new sound. With this, came a desire to expand her live set to piano, cello, guitar and drums. Enter Laura McCabe (cello), Enda Cahill (guitar) and Colin Lyons (drums) – 3 young talented musicians who immediately connected with Molly’s musical style. They have been collaborating together since September 2016, and along the way have focused their attention on recording their debut single ‘Plain Static’ with Darragh Nolan in Asta Kalapa studios, which was released October 2017, and currently is sitting at over 80,000 streams. As well as releasing 'Plain Static' they have been perfecting their live set which they showcased through exclusive performances seen at Other Voices, Output, Hard Working Class Heroes, Whelans Ones To Watch, Independent Venue Week, IMRO First Cuts, and Culture Night Belfast.

Simultaneously, Molly has been working on an acoustic set featuring only piano, cello and vocals that really exposes the intimacy her music creates, proving that it has the ability to hold it’s own either stripped back or with full band. This set took them to places such as Sofar Dublin, WAKE festival in Belfast, GalleryX, International Literature Festival Dublin, an international appearance at the London book launch for ‘The Secret Wound’ by Deirdre Quiery, and support slots opening for the likes of REWS, Susie-Blue, The Wood Burning Savages, Kim Churchill and Rosborough.

2018 is set to be a big year for Molly Sterling, with plans for her next release in Summer 2018 and her debut EP release planned to follow later in the year. You can catch her this summer at the following festivals: Castlepalooza, Forbidden Fruit, Sea Sessions, Dublin Quays Festival and Vantastival, with much more to be announced and lots of secret performances in store....
